Today we were going to be walking around Tirana. We met up with the Kiwi guy that we had previously met on the bus the other day. I was hoping that he and his girlfriend/wife, could join us on our walk around the city. Sadly they were off before I could ask them. We met them at the City Square (the first place on our list of things to see and do) . The square was a massive checker board-like piece of land that had trees on the outside and a band that was playing music on the inside. The music was okay, but it got a bit repetitive after a while of listening to it.
We saw a super tiny spire that was behind a catholic church-like thing. I asked mum how the priests got up to the top to ring the tiny bell, and mum said that there would be a ladder instead of stairs! We didn’t go up because it was closed to the public. We then went to a MASSIVE Mosque (Mosques are Muslim temples). We sadly couldn't go inside, but we stood outside staring at it in awe and wonder at the sheer size of it.
The last thing on our city list was a humongous lake. We walked to the lake by going through an even bigger park! We got lost a couple of times by accidentally taking the wrong path in the maze of trees. We eventually found our way by taking some well used shortcuts to the big blue lake. The lake was humongous (as predicted), it also had plenty of wild life, in and on top of the lake. Sadly the lake was kind of dirty. We think one of the depth signs to tell how deep the lake is, was wrong. We thought this because the depth sign said 117 m deep!
This day was very fun!
