To the Grand Canyon

4/10/2023

We left Moab and drove for 7 hours! On the way to the campground that we are staying at, the first place we went to was: The Four Corners Memorial, where you can be in four different states at one time! The different states were: Arizona, New Mexico, Utah, and Colorado! It was so cool!

After that we drove to a rock that had been given the name: The Mexican Hat, because it looked like a guy wearing a mexican hat.

After driving for another 3 hours we arrived at our campground and went to bed because it was 9 pm. Later in the night I was so tired, and no one knows how I did it, not even me because there is a railing, but I FELL OUT OF THE TOP BUNK OF OUR BUNK BED! It didn’t hurt at all! (probably because I was half asleep) When I hit the floor, Mum said “Jesus!” While she tried to find the light switch for her lamp, dad got his first. After that we went for a family trip to the toilet because we were all awake.

Today we drove to the GRAND CANYON!!! It was SO WINDY and cold. We started the walk on the South Rim Trail, and the Grand Canyon looked flat or a very well painted 3D wall.

We saw about three people who were so stupid and walked out on a flat piece of rock that had nothing under it, and they were taking backwards selfies! We walked along the Time Trail, where you get to learn about the rocks and get to touch millenia old rocks. The oldest rock I touched was 1,845 million years old! I learned that the Colorado River has eroded the rock of the Grand Canyon and that the Colorado River is now hitting harder rock and that it will take more time to erode the rock. We also saw the trail Dad did when he was 20! PS: for pokemon go lovers, there were heaps of magikarp at the Grand Canyon for some reason, and now we only need 16 more magikarp candy to evolve into: you know what, and if you don’t, it's GYARADOS!!!
