Today we drove to the Crazy Horse Memorial in South Dakota. (it is a mountain that is being carved into the world's BIGGEST statue!) We learnt about who started the statue and his family. We also learnt that Chief Sitting-Bull was the person that wanted the statue made. We also got to see the tools that they used at the start of making the statue. The Crazy Horse Memorial only had his face and one of his arms and one hand. I didn’t like the look on his face, it looked like he was struggling to push out a number 2.
After that we drove to MOUNT RUSHMORE! I was SO excited to see it because it is in all the movies and it is VERY famous.
It looked like the sculptor had given up on carving the rest of Lincoln's face, but the sculptor had actually stopped working on it because the son's dad (the person who started to make Mount Rushmore) died.
I learnt that information of America’s history and all about Mount Rushmore’s carvings is buried in a vault behind Abraham's head, so that in 10,000 years people can learn about America if they have forgotten.
We saw (Abi saw) an Alaskan number plate! That's further than we had traveled, and we have traveled from Beautiful British Columbia! So now we have seen 49/50 state number plates!
After that we drove to a wildlife loop in Custer State Park, where you can see so many animals, including BUFFALOS! WE SAW HERDS OF BUFFALOS IN THE WILD!!!
A buffalo was going to smash into our car because we drove in it's way when it was crossing the road, so we stopped and it walked around our car instead. I felt SO excited when mum and dad said that we can see BUFFALOS! I felt excited because we could see BUFFALOS in the wild instead of a zoo! :)
